JUNIOR SYSTEMS & SOFTWARE ENGINEER

We are currently looking for full-time junior system and software engineers to be part of our team and work on network architectures, systems and protocols.

LOCATION
Pisa (IT), Rome (IT)

ROLE
The role includes (but it is not limited to):

  • Design of system components

  • Software components design and development

  • Technical documentation of the architecture/system/software solutions and results

The work may require cooperating/interfacing with multi-national research teams on a regular basis and the ability to travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSc degree in one of the following subjects: Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics

  • Knowledge or experience with UNIX-like operating system and Linux distributions

  • Experience with at least one of the following programming languages: C/C++, Python, Java

  • Knowledge of network fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, basic IP routing and addressing)

  • Exposed to scripting with Python and/or Perl and/or Bash and/or TCL

  • Fluent in English, written and verbal

    • Virtualization technologies (e.g. KVM, Xen)

    • Cloud infrastructure based on OpenStack, VMware

    • Programming with NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB), AMQP (RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Layer 2 switching protocols (any of the following protocols: VLAN, LACP, STP)
