Nextworks' Virtual CDN PoC for UHD at IBC'19

16 Sept. 2019

Nextworks will be present at IBC'19 (RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre) to showcase an NFV proof of concept on dynamic and automated orchestration of a virtualized Content Delivery Networks (vCDNs) for UHD media streaming in 5G.

The IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) is the world's most influential media, entertainment and technology exhibition, where multiple broadcasters and media stakeholders convene from all over the world to discuss the latest progress and inspire innovation in the media sector.

Our vCDN for UHD media streaming demo is based on the ongoing work carried out by our 5G R&D team in the context of 5G-MEDIA project, co-funded by the EC in the context of the 5G PPP. The core technical enabler of our solution is ETSI OSM, the open-source NFV Management and Orchestration (MANO) stack being developed at ETSI, which has become the reference NFV orchestration tool for 5G networks.

Tata Elxsi invited us to showcase our vCDN for UHD PoC at their exhibition booth at the IBC, based on the joint involvement of the two companies in the ETSI OSM community. This initiative is intended to promote more community participation from media industry. Tata Elxsi a global digital and technology services provider and a distributor of TEOSM, a hardened ETSI OSM is showcasing an end-to-end service orchestrator solution based on ETSI OSM Release SIX for the broadcast industry from 13-17 September at IBC.

Come and meet us on Tuesday 17th September 2019 at Tata Elxsi booth #5.A23. Our 5G R&D team will be glad to present our demo and discuss potential business opportunities for media in 5G.
