The power of 5G Network Slicing for enhanced user mobility management: new demos at ECOC 2019

Our intense calendar of 5G demos at top international events continues unceasingly this year!

From next Mon Sept. 23rd, our colleagues from R&D team will participate in the 45th European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC 2019), the largest optical network conference and exhibition in Europe, to showcase a novel demo on 5G Network Slicing.

This work has been prepared with researchers from CTTC (Barcelona-ES), UC3M (Madrid-ES), Eulambia (Athens-GR), Athens Information Technology (Athens-GR), Eindhoven University of Technology (Eindhoven-NL) in the context of the H2020 blueSPACE project, a 5G PPP Phase 2 project that is designing the next generation optical access network infrastructures for 5G.

At the ECOC19 Exhibition we will demonstrate vertical slice management for energy-efficient broadband services in scenarios with high user mobility.  In particular, we will show how it is possible to dynamically orchestrate 5G Network Slices, their Network Services and optical paths in the 5G fronthaul when users move across the network. The demo control loop integrates Mobility and Power Management with Network Slice Management, NFV Orchestration and novel SDN/NFV control techniques based on Transport API to dynamically reconfigure the optical fronthaul network based on analogue radio over fiber (ARoF) and power over fiber (PoF).

We chose ECOC 2019 to present our innovative solutions for 5G fronthaull because it is the largest optical communications conference and exhibition in Europe with researchers, industry and decision makers from across the world.

Meet our team at the ECOC Demo session on Mon Sept. 23rd hrs. 14:00 – 18:00 at Hibernia Rooms, Intercontinental Hotel, Dublin, Ireland.

We’ll be happy to present our results and discuss opportunities for collaboration.
