New IST FP7 projects for Nextworks R&D

Nextworks has successfully achieved grant agreements from the European Commission, INFORMATION SOCIETY AND MEDIA DIRECTORATE-GENERAL - Information and Communication Technologies, for its R&D activities on Control Plane architectures and technologies in three new FP7 (http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/) projects:
  • Large Scale integrated Project (IP) ETICS, "Economics And Technologies For Inter-Carrier Services"
  • Large Scale integrated Project (IP) GEYSERS, "Generalised Architecture for Dynamic Infrastructure Services"
  • Small or medium-scale focused research project (STREP) MAINS, "Metro Architectures enablINg Sub-wavelengths"
The three projects will start early January 2010 and will represent three complementary research approaches to GMPLS and PCE technologies enhancements for the 2010-2012 period. All of the projects are expected to highly contribute to the Challenge 1 "Pervasive and trusted network and services infrastructures" of the FP7 ICT work programme 2009-2010, and in particular the Objective 1.1.c on converged infrastructure in support of future networks within the Network of the Future cluster.
Nextworks is expected to contribute to the research challenges set by these projects with its solid background expertise on GMPLS and PCE, and to strengthen and upgrade the know-how of its R&D performing team, as well as to open new potential routes for the company business.
